Rice’s Nursery and Landscaping New General Manager, Steve Maddox
Focuses on Company’s Landscape Roots
CANTON, Ohio (February 2012) – As the new General Manager at Rice’s Nursery and Landscaping, Inc., Steve Maddox blends garden center expertise with a renewed focus on landscaping, the very services that launched the company more than 70 years earlier.
Maddox was the face of the garden center—as Garden Center Manager for more than 10 years—to hundreds of master and aspiring gardeners looking for fresh, seasonal plants and expert advice. He and his team helped make gardening easier and more accessible with free workshops he often instructed and friendly onsite advice. He passes the torch to his successor, new Garden Center Manager, Bil Hickman.
“The Garden Center has been my passion,” said Maddox. “Working with my team to turn it into everything our customers are looking for, creating relationships with these people—that is what fuels my fire. In my new role, I get to take that firsthand experience to the next level. I get to plan ways to make gardening and coming to Rice’s even easier and more remarkable for our people, our employees and our customers,” adds Maddox. “And the garden center is in good hands with Bil and the group. I’ve seen them in action. Couldn’t ask for more talented, customer-committed people.”
With the garden center on a positive trajectory, Maddox and Rice’s President, Bryan Rice turn their attention to what they’re calling full-service lifestyle landscaping, the year-round, customizable care they can bring to residential and commercial customers. Designed to cater to busy families and professionals, these services protect and enhance a customer’s landscape investment over time.
For Bryan Rice, President, the changes are all part of the plan. “My Dad always told us to surround ourselves with good people. I am doing just that. Steve shares our vision for Rice’s, he loves what we do and he’s out there making a difference in our community, something we value and admire.”
